Now, I’m sure the people at Jil Sander HQ love customers who know confidence in fashion, but I don’t think they expected this from one of the hottest SS11 runway offerings.
I haven’t written on this blog for a long time. Mainly because I haven’t had much to say, but this pricked my ears. Hoorah for progress!!

I find it so upsetting to hear beautiful young girls hate their naturally kinky hair. Thanks Sesame Street for a wonderful song:
Ok, so going by what i’ve seen of the SS11 shows – next season’s going to be mighty satisfactory…. What’s interesting is the clear divide between two style camps. 1. continues the minimalism trend of AW and warps into futuristic pop brights and silhouettes 2. harks back to my favourite era, the late 70s early 80s, what i’ll in true Petaluma-style coin Soul Sister chic (this is the one i’m supporting).
Hoorah, after many years of mourning the superstar that could have been… Lauren Hill is doing the rounds again. Seven kids later, she’s shed the laid-back cool of the 90s – think locks, white vest and jeans and has become somewhat more….eclectic. Combining all the hot looks, grunge (parka), oversized glasses, monochrome and Studio 54 (flicked hair) – I’ll leave you to decide what you think. I quite like it, she looks great and I’m just so pleased to see her back on track!
The lovely Corinne Bailey Rae has not had the best of years – her Jazz musician husband died of a heroin overdose, leaving the young widow to pull herself out of a very dark funk. So it was great to see her looking so serene and beautiful at the Mercury Awards Photocall. Looking forward to her new album!!
