Miss Petaluma On…Pre-Fall 2010 Collections

Incase you didn’t already know, the fashion calendar is split into not only autumn/ winter and spring/summer, but you also have cruise, pre-spring and also pre-fall to contend with too.  These filler collections, in my humble opinion, are often much more desirable.  Maybe it’s   the simplicity of the presentations and more practical clothing which make it all  seem a tad more achievable to the average gal like me.  A wealth of brands including Versace, Diane Von Furstenberg and Jason Wu sent their pre-fall  collections out into the  fashion hemisphere and here’s an idea of what you’ll be wearing late summer.

Aminata Niaria models a tribal-style Caroline Herarra dress

Inspired by the tango, Caroline Hererra has created a cheerful and bold collection of knee-length cocktail dresses, sculptural one-shouldered numbers and playful tweeds.  Her distinctive use of print, is particularly refreshing and I adore the bold colour palette of fiery red, yellow and cobalt blue.

Jeneil Williams wears a minimal Narciso Rodriguez dress

Narciso Rodriguez has done it again with a no-nonsense offering of  sharp  tailoring for the girls.  Combining tapered balloon cuts and asymmetric fitted dresses with  a gorgeous colour palette of greys, mushroom, red and black.

Sosheba Griffiths models this lady-like Oscar de La Renta ensemble

If ruffles, tweed and unabashed colour are more your scene, then the Oscar de La Renta collection will tick all the boxes.  These are screen siren silhouettes in confident palette from  grey and yellow right through to coral and emerald.

Lyndsey Scott models layers for legend Diane Von Furstenberg

Inspired by festivals and British it-girls, DVF’s pre-fall offering is certainly delightful – that’s easy to wear pieces, in her signature prints and great colour combos.  Hemlines are short and flirty and most inspiring is the great use of layering, perfect for our temperamental summer.

Aminata Niaria models bubble gum pink for Michael Kors

Michael Kors is more then just a Project Runway judge, above all else he is a very successful designer.  This collection is the perfect example of he’s quintessential New York style, celebrating luxurious basics and evening wear.  It’s all about the fabric and cut and that includes, leather, cashmere, wool and fur.  So there’s no fuss or print, just great pieces in either black, bubble-gum pink, scarlet or gold.
